About
Operatie Regeneratie
Operatie Regeneratie is a nature-inclusive design studio. We use design to create places where humans and nature come together and strengthen one another.
We do this by reimagining everyday objects in the public realm, so they add value for both people and nature. In this way, a mile marker can contribute to verge ecology, and a memorial stone can also function as a hedgehog habitat.
Experience plays a central role in our work. On the one hand, human experience of nature is essential: when nature becomes visible, tangible, and understandable, appreciation and support for nature-inclusive solutions grows.
At the same time, we consider how nature experiences a place. What do flora and fauna need in order to thrive? Which forms, structures, and materials support this? What is already present, and what is still missing?
Alongside experience, practical constraints play an important role. Habitat requirements go hand in hand with technical requirements, maintenance, and scalability.
By connecting these perspectives, we design places in which human experience and ecological value reinforce one another.

From collaboration to regeneration
Operatie Regeneratie works through collaboration. Depending on the challenge, we form multidisciplinary teams with ecologists, designers, engineers, and producers.
Each project brings together a collaboration tailored to its scale, context, and ecological ambition. By combining different areas of expertise, we develop solutions in which ecology, design, and technology reinforce one another.
The website is largely written in the plural (“we”), because collaboration is central to the transition towards a more regenerative environment.
About Iris Bekkers
Iris Bekkers is a designer and entrepreneur specialising in nature-inclusive and bio-based design. Her work sits at the intersection of ecology, product development, material research, and parametric design.
She holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Design (MSc) from Eindhoven University of Technology, where her focus increasingly shifted towards the relationship between design and ecology.
In her practice, she develops designs in which humans and nature are not treated as separate entities, but as an integrated system. Experienceability, feasibility, and ecological impact are central to her work.

Do you want to collaborate with Operatie Regeneratie?
Design approach
Operatie Regeneratie combines ecology, design, materials, and engineering in an iterative process.
By testing, evaluating, and further developing designs, knowledge is generated and carried forward into subsequent projects. In this way, we build solutions that are not only innovative, but also applicable and durable in practice.
